LARGE-SCALE MINE TO OPEN IN KASEMPA
KATENGE Resources Limited, in collaboration with FBT Katoka Mining Limited, will soon open a large scale mining plant in the Katoka Meme area of Kasempa.
FBT director, Andries Fourier, said in Kasempa that the mine would be opened once all the legal documents had been acquired, and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) conducted and approved by the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA).
Mr Fourier assured the community members that attended the scooping meeting yesterday that the new mine would follow all the necessary procedure before starting operations.
"Before opening the mine we will ensure all documents are acquired and then will start developing," he said.
Mr Fourier noted that once opened, the mine will employ local people and also provide them with training for specialized equipment.
The people also insisted that once opened the mine should adhere to the requirement of social cooperate responsibility for the benefit of the community.
Mr Mwansa Chumbu, a Kasempa resident, submitted that the investor should take the project seriously as the people had waited for long for such a huge development undertaking in the area.
He urged the new mine developers to give priority the youth from the area when it comes to employment as they had lagged behind in terms of finding jobs.
Once opened, the mine will employ local people and also provide them with training for specialized equipment.
