Division One league sponsors Eden University win kudos
THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has hailed national Division One league sponsors Eden University for pledging to sponsor the Charity Shield which will be played on August 17. Speaking during a press conference in Lusaka yesterday, FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala commended the university for contributing to the growth of football in Zambia by sponsoring the Charity Shield and the Division One league which will accommodate 18 teams. Kashala urged the corporate world to emulate Eden University and national Division One league co-sponsors Atlas Mara by supporting the league which is set to kick off on August 31. Meanwhile, Kashala has urged club to register their players before the player transfer window closes on August 31. Kashala said FAZ will not allow any forging and use of temporal cards when the league kicks off. “Registration of players comes to a close on August 31 so take advantage of the remaining weeks to register players on time to avoid any delays. “we will not allow any temporal cards to be used and we warn those clubs who like forging cards, the FAZ ethics committee will be alert to punish any club found forging cards,” Kashala said. And Eden University CEO Kelvin Kaunda said the university is proud to partner with FAZ to develop football in Zambia. Kaunda whose firm has given the national Division One league a K1, 099, 000 boost said the sponsorship of the national division one will enable a lot of youths to be empowered by the university. Atlas Mara head of marketing, Erick Ngondo said there is need for the corporate world to complement FAZ’s efforts to develop football in the country. Ngondo said Atlas Mara one of the major sponsors for Zesco United will continue to look for opportunities to work with FAZ to grow the Zambian game.
