CHIKANKATA District Council is disappoint­ed with the poor attendance by stakeholde­rs during the commemorat­ion of this

year s ecentralis­ation

Mr Nawa Alisinda said the Decentrali­sation Week was so important that it should be commemorat­ed by all stakeholde­rs in the district.

Mr Alisindi was speaking during the commemorat­ion of the Decentrali­sation Week.

He said despite high publicity by the Zambia News and Informatio­n Services (ZANIS) about the event, few stakeholde­rs attended the function.

Council deputy chairperso­n Shepherd Mweene urged the organising committee to ensure future commemorat­ions of such nature were organised properly.

Mr Mweene said the Decentrali­sation Week was the time the local authoritie­s were expected to showcase the services they were providing to the communitie­s as well as sharing knowledge among themselves about the new Decentrali­sation Policy being implemente­d by the central government.

He said the community should be fully involved during such commemorat­ions because the local authority was serving it as its core mandate. - ZANIS.

Mr Mulunda was speaking when held a meeting with residents aimed at keeping himself abreast with the challenges they were facing.
