‘North-West best investment destination’
NORTH-WESTERN Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu says the region remains the best destination for investment because it is peaceful and stable.
Security had been beefed up to ensure peace was maintained as the province hosts the investment exposition from August 18 to 24, this year.
Mr Mubukwanu was speaking on Solwezi Radio during an expo radio programme.
He said the investors should not worry about security, accommodation and other necessities required for their stay as all was in place.
Mr Mubukwanu said all stakeholders, including community members, local investors, the business community and traditional leaders had been engaged and had all pledged to support the expo.
He said traditional leaders had played a major role in the preparations for the expo as some had made donations in monetary form and land so that it could be channelled into marketing the province at national and international levels.
Mr Mubukwanu thanked all the traditional leaders, the media and the community members for the role they were playing in ensuring the expo was a success.
And speaking in a separate interview on Kokoliko Radio in Solwezi, expo coordinator Christopher Bwalya said the greatest expectation at the end of the expo was to see increased domestic investment in the region.
He said it was expected that investors would invest using various engagements such as public private partnershipa in infrastructure development, manufacturing and processing and agriculture.
Mr Bwalya said the province was also hopeful that the coming of investors would address current challenges being faced in trading internationally especially around border towns such as Mushindamo, Mwinilunga, Chavuma and Ikelengi.
North-Western Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mukumbi Kafuta said the expo was an opportunity for the business sector to tap into the various business opportunities available in the province.
He said the expo was viewed as a journey for the business
