Chipulukusu receives road upgrade
NDOLA Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Mulenga with support from the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industrial Corporation (ZAFFICO) has started upgrading roads in Chipulukusu Ward to gravel.
Speaking when he launched the project in Chipulukusu yesterday, Mr Mulenga said he would meet all the fuel expenses while ZAFFICO had provided the machinery.
Mr Mulenga said the project was aimed at smoothening the mobility of goods and services in the area where most roads
were in a deplorable state.
He said over K18, 000 would be spent on fuel on the two graders provided by ZAFFICO.
The grading of the roads in his constituency was one way of fulfilling the promises he made in 2016 when he was elected MP.
Mapalo Ward Councillor Kennedy Phiri said once graded, the roads would provide access to public services such as clinics, schools and markets. He said some of the roads had never seen a facelift for over 30 years, a situation he said made it difficult for motorists to access certain areas.
Among the roads being graded in the second phase of the project are Kalongo and Kampalange.
The rehabilitation has excited residents. They are grateful for the development. Abel Bwalya, a resident, said because of the deplorable state of the roads, the residents faced numerous challenges when accessing social amenities.
Mr Bwalya urged the residents not to dispose of garbage on the newly graded roads to protect them from damage.
