PF government attaches great importance to the institution of chieftainship.
He said the PF relied on the wisdom and counsel of chiefs and other traditional rulers, hence attaching importance to the institution of chieftainship.
Mr said the party would always engage traditional leaders in matters of development as they were custodians of values.
“As provincial chairman, I cannot leave their royal highnesses behind because engaging and working with traditional leaders is a directive by His Excellence President Edgar Lungu that we work together for the betterment of our people,” he said.
And Mr Kungo said President Lungu was in a hurry to take development to all parts of the country.
He said this was evidenced with the development projects taking place in the province and Manyinga in particular which included the connection of the district to the national electricity grid.
He mentioned that the electrification of the district would spur development which would result into job creation for the local people.
OPPOSITION UPND youths in Livingstone have closed down their district offices following confusion that has engulfed the party leadership. According to insiders, the party has been rocked by
wrangles involving six district party officials who were suspended by the provincial disciplinary committee.
But UPND Secretary General, Stephen Katuka, had overturned the suspensions, alleging that the province did not follow procedure in effecting the ban on the six.
Mr Katuka’s decision has angered youths in Livingstone who have accused him of meddling of the activities in the district.
His decision did not go well with youths who quickly mobilised and went to Mosi-oa- tunya House and closed down the office.
According to one of the letters obtained by the Daily Nation in Livingstone, dated October 2, 2019, the six officials were suspended for a period three months for gross misconduct.
The six officials were district chairman Michael Kangai, district secretary Mr Fwanyanga, district chairlady Edith Siambelele, Youth chairman Mate Chihinga, Oberty Siamundia and Jack Shimwambwa. The letter was signed by Provincial vice secretary Gerald Hamaamba and copied to the secretary general
An insider disclosed that the six senior party officials were suspended after they were found guilty of interfering in the deputy mayoral elections at the Council.
