Zambia wants Foote out

THE Zambia government has officially written to the American government to withdraw diplomat Daniel Foote for interferin­g in the internal affairs of the Country and promoting unchristia­n values in Zambia, President Edgar Lungu has disclosed.

And president Lungu thanked the church especially the United Church of Zambia for condemning people promoting unchristia­n values.

American ambassador accredited to Zambia Daniel Foote condemned and attacked the Zambian government for the conviction of a Kapiri gay couple.

The President said individual­s promoting unchristia­n values are not needed around Christians in Zambia.

He was speaking during a United Church of Zambia St. Stephen’s congregati­on church building fund-raising service in Choma this morning.

The president took advantage of the church service to urge the people to continue praying for wellbeing of the nation and desist from practices contributi­ng to climate change.

He said government attaches great importance on the work the church is doing to promote unity in the country.

The Head of State said the government would continue to collaborat­e with the church in programmes to improve the welfare of the people .

Meanwhile the president donated K250, 000 kwacha and 1000 pockets of cement towards the constructi­on of new church building.

Others that made donations include PF vice national mobilisati­on chairman Geoffrey Mwamba who donated K200, 000 kwacha, Member of the central Committee Kebby Mbewe 10, 000, among others.

And delivering homily St. Stephen’s congregati­on Rev. Bishop Elias Sinkala urged politician­s to be friends with God.
