I AM re-contesting the position of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) vice-president and it’s untrue that I have been side-lined, says FAZ vice- president Rix Mweemba. Mweemba said he was ready to face any challengers and is backing Andrew Kamanga for another four-year term at the helm of the soccer body.

In an interview, Mweemba said it was unfortunate that some individuals were already orchestrating fake stories for their personal interest.
“The story that I have been side-lined from contesting next year’s elections are untrue and it’s sad that an individual can come up with such a story. I wish to make it clear that whether side-lined or not I will contest,” he said.
He advised those with aspirations of contesting any position in FAZ to be in accordance with the constitution.
“Everyone is free to contest the fourth- coming elections as long as they meet the criteria. Let them tell the people what they are going to do which is different from what we have done. No mudslinging but football developmental politics,” he said.
Asked on whether he was satisfied with what the administration has achieved in almost four years, Mweemba said the Kamanga led executive had achieved over 70 percent.
“I feel we have achieved three quarters of what we have desired in terms of developing football. Yes. We had short comings and failed here and there but we have so far done well,” he said.
The FAZ elections are scheduled for March, 2020. Former FAZ vice president Emmanuel Munaile and committee member Blackwell Siwale announced their intentions to challenge Kamanga.
