Rwandese in trouble for unlawful stay
TWO Rwandese nationals have been charged with unlawful stay for engaging in employment without permits and uttering false documents by the Immigration Department in Mongu.
Immigration public relations officer, Namati Nshinka, said Muhamagoro Schadrack , 27, male and Uwamariza Vaisatta, 23, female between April 8, 2019 and January 15 2020 did stay in Zambia without valid travel documents and failed to legalise their stay.
Mr Nshinka said the two were also charged for engaging in employment without work permits.
He said in a statement that during the period in question the two Rwandese also uttered false documents to public officers contrary to section 344 (a) of the Penal Code.
Mr Nshinka said the two uttered national registration Cards 404010/53/1 and 307420/10/1 to immigration officers on duty, purporting that the said documents were lawfully obtained, when in fact not. the Public,” he said. Mr Nshinka said the Rwandese would appear in the courts soon.
And Mr Nshinka said the Immigration Department in Lusaka has charged Yves
Nzengi, 20, a male Congolese and Alice Phiri, 49, a Zambian, who claimed to be his mother, with multiple counts relating to the fraudulent acquisition of a Zambian National Registration Card.
Meanwhile, Mr Nshinka said 63 persons of different nationalities were apprehended by the department for various immigration offences between January 17 and 21 2020 and secured 33 convictions within the same period.
He said Immigration officers removed 14 illegal immigrants from the country and refused entry to 14 foreign nationals for failing to meet entry requirements.
