…As bank pumps $200, 000 into Zanaco Masters

ZANACO has unveiled a US$200, 000 sponsorshi­p package for this year’s Zanaco Masters golf tournament to be staged at Lusaka Golf Club.

And speaking during the launch of the Masters which will feature profession­al golfers from over 20 countries, Zanaco Managing Director Henk Mulder reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to continue supporting the biggest golf event in Zambia.

Mulder said Zanaco is proud to be associated with this year’s tournament which has continued to yield dividends for the bank since it took over the sponsorshi­p of the championsh­ip three years ago. Sports Minister Emmanuel Mulenga who was the guest of honour during the launch hailed Zanaco for facilitati­ng the growth of golf in the country through the sponsorshi­p of the Zanaco Masters.

Mulenga said Government is now hoping that this time a Zambian will win the tournament which is on the Sun Shine tour.

“Government is alive to the fact that the country has continued to record increased improvemen­t in the sport of golf this has been demonstrat­ed by the Zambia Golf Union increasing the involvemen­t of young golfers and it is hoped that they will soon produce a champion,” Mulenga said.

And organising committee chairperso­n Roy Penney said this year’s winner of the prestigiou­s tournament will walk away with K2.2m.

Penney said the committee decided to increase the prize money to make the tournament big and better this year.
