I am not shaken, says Sampa

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

I AM not shaken with the decision taken by the party youths, I remain their leader, Patriotic Front youth chairperson Kelvin Sampa has said.

Mr Sampa who is also Kasama Central Member of Parliament, said such demonstrations by a small group of youths cannot move him.

He said in an interview yesterday, he would continue to discharge his duties because what some youths did had no impact.

Some PF youths on Monday marched to the party secretariat in Lusaka to demand the removal of Mr Sampa as national chairperson on account that he had failed.

They claimed that Mr Sampa was selfish and had failed to come up with initiatives to empower them.

They said Mr Sampa was not representing their interests but his own as he had allegedly personalised programmes which they claimed were not benefitting them and that his stay at the helm was destroying the PF. But Mr Sampa in his response said the youths who protested would not be taken seriously and that he would continue working to grow the party.

He said the claims by the youths were baseless and false, it was prudent that he focused on issues that were in the best interest of the party.

“I am not shaken, they can go to the public and say whatever they can say but I will not drag myself in whatever they are doing.

“For me I will concentrate on discharging my duties and if they have anything they want to be addressed they need to engage me and not doing wrong things,” Mr Sampa said.

And Mr Sampa said if youths were angered with his decision to put in new office bearers in the youth league, he would not change his position.

He said he was mandated to make necessary decisions if those given positions in the youth league were not performing according to the party’s expectations.
