Account for KoPa sales, FAZ told
THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been challenged to state how much has been generated from the sales in KoPa sports apparel. Soccer administrator Blackwell Siwale has wondered why FAZ had not declared what has been raised in the last two years that the KoPa was launched. Siwale noted that the project was bound to fail because it was being treated like it was the FAZ president’s personal brand. He said that the continued advertisement of the sports apparel by the FAZ president Andrew Kamanga on his social media pages created an impression that it was a personal project. Siwale said that the Secretariat should have instead taken the leading role in advertising the sports apparel and not the sssociation president. “The narrative they peddled is that they will sell the brand but the KoPa has failed because the moment we usher in new office bearers it will not be on the agenda .It seems the brand is only Kamanga’s because if it was for the association we would have seen them advertising it vigorously but they are not,” Siwale said . “Why haven’t they declared what they have sold, they, they should tell us how much has been made from the KoPa. It’s a failed project,” But FAZ president Andrew Kamanga called on Zambians to embrace the KoPa sports apparel as it was an indigenously local brand. In his recent Facebook postings Kamanga said that the sportswear used by the national soccer team would soon be taken internationally . The FAZ president also called on local clubs to look to the KoPa for their sports apparel. The KoPa was launched in 2018 has since become the official wear of all Zambia national soccer teams and has been extended to some lower division sides.
