APOLOGISE TO CHITIMUKULU, HH TOLD
THE Patriotic Front (PF) in the Northern Province has insisted that UPND president Hakainde Hichilema must apologise for sending surrogates like James Lukuku to insult the Chitimukulu.
Kasama Central Member of Parliament Kelvin Sampa said in an interview that the Bemba-speaking people were still waiting for an apology from Mr Hichilema for the insults and demeaning words directed at the Chitimukulu after he advised his people to vote en masse like Tongas in Southern Province
Mr Sampa said they want the UPND leadership to come out and condemn the attacks that were directed at the Mwine Lubemba.
Mr Sampa said in an interview it was shocking that the UPND leadership was mute on the attacks that were directed at the Chitimukulu. He said the silence from the UPND can only mean that the attacks on the Chitimukulu had the blessings of the top leadership in the party.
“Today the whole UPND has gone mute as if nothing had happened. We challenge the UPND leadership to come out and condemn the attacks that were directed at the Mwine Lubemba.
“We also demand for an apology for dragging the name of the Chitimukulu into politics. The Paramount Chief is non-political, non-partisan and what he said was directed to his subjects and was very clear,” Mr Sampa said.
Mr Sampa wondered what kind of example Mr Hichilema was portraying to his followers when he can't come out and condemned attacks on elders.
He said the Chitimukulu being a Zambian had the right to encourage people from the northern part of Zambia to be concerned with the way that they participate in issues of Governance.
“Hakainde Hichilema is vying for the highest seat of the land and yet cannot come out to condemn the attacks on an elder, the Chitimukulu. We challenge him and the UPND leadership to come out and condemn the attacks that were peddled on the Mwine Lubemba. We are demanding for an apology for their attacks. Their silence can only mean one thing and that is the attacks had the blessings of top leadership in UPND," Mr Sampa said.
