Luanshya schools disinfected
IN an efforts to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 among pupils, the Luanshya Municipal Council is disinfecting all schools in preparation for the re-opening next Monday,’ Mayor Nathan Chanda has said
Mr Chanda said the local authority has so far disinfected seven schools and expected to complete the exercise before the schools open.
The exercise was being undertaken in close collaboration with the District Commissioner and District Education Board Secretary’s Office.
Mr Chanda also handed over assorted items worth K40, 000 donated by the Hindu Society of Luanshya to Ghandi Primary School.
‘’ As a local authority, we want to ensure that we actively participate in fighting the Covid-19 in various ways.
One of the ways of fighting Covid-19 will include disinfecting all the schools in the district in preparation for the re- opening of schools.
“In our efforts to fight Covid-19, we are working with various stakeholders like the Hindu Society of Luanshya who have donated K40 000 worth of assorted items to Ghandi Primary School to fight Covid-19,’’ Mr Chanda said
Mr Chanda said the council would ensure that all schools were disinfected including those in peri- urban areas.
He said inspections were being conducted in various schools to access the preparedness of teachers before the re-opening of the schools
“As a local authority with other stakeholders, we are working in close collaboration and let me hasten to say visits are being conducted in various schools to access the preparedness of teachers before the re-opening of the schools.
“It is always impressing to have the local authority partner with various stakeholders in supplementing government efforts,’’ he said
