BUSHE FYONSE NI BOMA NANGU BA KATEKA WANDI BA LUNGU?
Dear Editor,
RECENTLY, schools have opened and allowed to conduct classes for pupils who are in exam classes. To complement the good efforts of the government, it is a requirement that the pupils are required to put on masks and observe the public health guidelines.
Since we all wish to see our kids attending school and write their exams, we take it that masking up is a shared responsibility.
It is not the sole responsibility of the government but a collective one. It is the role of the school management, the civil society, citizens, parents in as much as it is the role of the government.
Therefore, pointing an accusing finger on the government or indeed the President and leaving other stakeholders is very unfair.
If anything has gone wrong, we should all take responsibility and find ways of resolving the issue. Single handedly picking one stakeholder is the admission of failure by mischief makers masquerading as well wishers.
As self-proclaimed patriots, they should be on the side of the solution rather than the side of the problem.
We wish also take this opportunity to condemn social media bloggers such as Chella Tukuta, B-Flow, Sarafina for spending their resources in criticising the government as opposed to buying face masks.
Our hearts bleed for HH who has apparently spent colossal sums of money in sponsoring confusion in Western Province. The mismanaged resources would have been used to buy masks as opposed to the fruitless political fight.
Let’s all take masking up as a shared responsibility and desist from the boma iyanganepo. MARVIN CHANDA MBERI, Youth Rights Activist, Lusaka.
