I will remain PF, ex Siavonga DC says
SHAME on the UPND who think I can join them after being relieved of my duties by President Lungu, outspoken fired District Commissioner for Siavonga Lovemore Kanyama has said. Mr Kanyama said despite his firing from government, he will remain a PF member. "There is nothing to celebrate about my exit, I am still in government and those who are thinking of breaking the law will be dealt with accordingly. It doesn't mean that when my contract wasn't renewed that I am out of the system," he said. Mr Kanyama said he will continue ensuring that order that exhibited during his tenure of office as District Commissioner is maintained. He said actually, President Lungu has given him more authority than before he was District Commissioner and that he has now no limitations in his political activities. Mr Kanyama said as long as he lives, he is not going to allow opposition leader, Mr Hakainde Hichilema and his supporters to mount political flags in the province. "As I said those who want to mount their political flags are free to do as long they mount them in their homes," Mr Kanyama said. He said the UPND should be ashamed for creating a political frenzy when the country was far from holding elections. "There are no elections for the UPND to think of mounting political party flags, it's not about authority but doing the right thing for the district. I'm still District Commissioner until I hand over the District to the newly appointed Siavonga District Commissioner," he said. Mr Kanyama also directed Siavonga police officer in charge to ensure that law breakers are dealt with despite his absence in the district in order to protect the booming investment in the fish farming industry.
