UPND member threatens to kill Bill 10 advocates

A SUSPECTED UPND member in North-Western Province has declared that opposition members will kill Bill 10 advocates who are in the region to sensitise people on the process and contents of Bill number 10.

The member called one of the advocates urging the team not to hold any radio programmes and stop the sensitisation process.

The opposition member warned that if the team continued to advocate and spread Bill 10 information, there would be a bloodbath in the province.

According to investigations by Daily Nation, the man who called the advocates has been identified as George (surname withheld), a UPND official and the number used to call is an Airtel line 09755424— Here is a verbatim: UPND member: “…I am assuring you, if you want to live longer, keep away from the Bill 10.”

Bill 10 advocate: “Okay.” UPND member: “I am calling you from Solwezi, whichever studio that you are going to use, there will be bloodbath.”

Bill 10 advocate: “Okay.” UPND member: “Don’t (try) hesitate to (use) any studio and come up with this so-called Bill 10, we don’t want it, take it back to Lusaka and tell Edgar Lungu to say people of Solwezi do not need Bill 10, people of North-Western don’t need Bill 10. If you force yourselves, we’ll also force ourselves on you.”

Bill 10 advocate: “Who am I speaking to?”

UPND member: “You are talking to a human being, I am just telling you, I know that you have been spotted in North-Western with the issue of Bill 10, if you need safety for yourselves, I advise that you don’t go to any studio.”

Bill 10 advocate: “Actually, we are in Zambezi.”

UPND member: “Thank you, keep well in Zambezi, and stay safe.”

Bill 10 Advocate: “Thank for calling.”

According to investigations by Daily Nation, the man who called has been identified as George from Solwezi who is a UPND official.

Bill 10 Advocates have been in the Province for last one week sensitizing people on the constitutional amendment process and the contents of Bill 10.

So far the team has been to 10 of the 11 districts.

The team is led by Chishala Chilufya while other team members are Prince Ndoyi, Innocent Filamba and James Kaumba.
