ALAND scam where a play park in Kitwe has been illegally sold using altered council minutes has been unearthed. The Kitwe City Counci has since written to the Chief Lands Officer in Ndola to cancel the offer of land in a play park in Parklands residential area on Nationalist Road. Kitwe Town Clerk, Mbulo Seke, confirmed the development which was reported to the local authority by ward councillor Cleopus Njovu. Investigation have revealed the illegal sale of the land which was sitting on plot number KIT/674 in Parklands. Mr Seke said the land on the said Play Park was appearing as registered under some mining company in Kitwe. According to findings the plot was initially allocated to Larvena Bwale and later offered to the same person using council minutes for 26th May 2011 which appeared different from the original council minutes “I got a tip from the area councillor saying that a Play Park on Nationalist Road has allegedly been sold. So investigations revealed that indeed the said Play Park which is sitting on Plot number KIT/674 was appearing as registered under some mining company here in Kitwe. “Further investigations revealed that the said plot was initially allocated to Larvena Bwale and later offered to the same person using council minutes for 26th May 2011 which appeared different from the original council minutes. So because of these irregularities, the local authority has since written to the Chief Lands Officer in Ndola to cancel the offer,’’ Mr Seke said.
