Chililabom­bwe youngsters empowered

YOUNG people in Chitimukul­u ward in Chililabom­bwe have been allocated land for empowermen­t programmes under a cooperativ­e.

The land and cooperativ­e which are meant for business activities have since been presented to youths.

Chililabom­bwe Member of Parliament, Richard Musukwa, is spearheadi­ng the empowermen­t projects.

Mr Musukwa noted with concern that youths in the area were only moving about without engaging in any proper ventures, hence the move.

“Youths are the future leaders and have the potential to take the developmen­t agenda of the country to greater heights if supported in everything they need,” he said.

Mr Musukwa, who is Mines and Minerals Developmen­t Minister, said that youths were free to put up income generating facilities on the land and be able to empower others.

He said that this would create job opportunit­ies among youths as long as they ventured into notable and serious viable business activities.

Mr Musukwa said that Government could not manage to give direct jobs to everyone but that it could help through such gestures.

Mr Musukwa warned the youth against selling the land, stating that his office would not tolerate such an illegal act.

He said that the land was meant for them to better their lives and not for resale, hence they should reciprocat­e by generating income.
