LUNGU PARLEY SPEECH ELATES SOUTH PF
THE Patriotic Front (PF) in Southern Province has applauded President Edgar Lungu for giving an inspiring and all- embracing speech to the fifth session of the twelfth National Assembly.
PF provincial Information and Publicity Secretary, Trymore Mweenda, said President Lungu’s speech had given Zambians hope of a bright tomorrow despite some challenges the country was facing with due to the ravaging impact of the COVID 19.
He said that the speech clearly spelt out the roadmap in various sectors from agriculture, mining, tourism, energy among others to infrastructure.
This is contained in a statement issued to the Daily Nation in Livingstone yesterday.
“We urge all well-meaning Zambians to embrace and support the President’s development focus for this country as he has remained steadfast and resolute even in difficult times,” he said.
“We are delighted that the President among other measures aimed at reopening the economy has announced the reopening of schools which have been closed for the past six months and the partial reopening of bars and nightclubs which had seen many workers thrown on the street,” he said.
Mr Mweenda noted that education was the backbone of any developed nation. He made a passionate appeal to citizens to ensure there was no laxity in adhering to health guidelines. Mr Mweenda said Zambia could not afford to go into a COVID COVID 19 19 induced induced lockdown lockdown as a landlocked country as this could have devastating effects on the economy. “The partial opening of bars and nightclubs is equally a commendable move as citizens who depend on these ventures will have some relief to resume and fend for their families families in in the the new new normal normal as has been stressed by the Head of State,” he said.
