Time has come for us to run our mines... Comments

-

We can’t have a mining industry that depends on VAT refund as if VAT is their final product.

(Dr Lubinda Haabazoka)

Mark Manyando : That’s the way should be, good ideas.

it

Chizongwe E. Chikweni : No we are not ready to manage them yet.

SirPamfred William Hasweeka :

I couldn’t agree more Dr Lubinda Haabazooka. However, you know that we still suffer from “BlackMans’ Syndrome”- Soon business and investments will be about favours, it will turn political, relatives or cadres will be employed, e.t.c. In short corruption will take over. The problem is us and not really the investors. Ironically, when we start running the mines, we will do more harm than what these investors are doing.

Kasebamashila Kaseba :

Let us address the contradictions of privatising small scale gold mining to nationalising large scale copper mining that we’re privatised after failure time. Let us review how we got here, doc.

SirPamfred William Hasweeka :

Good point, but look, mining in Africa is like democracy in Africa-whatever is good we are poor at implementing. What am i saying? We cannot run mines ourselves because we are not disciplined enough to do so. This is why parastatals failed.

Musonda Musonda : Like ZESCO? ZAMTEL? Deliberate loss making?

Mwana Wa Leza : You’re the experts guys. Propose how you can restructure the tax system that will favor both the investor and grz.

Beaton S. Kaluba : do just that

True we need to

Andrew Chifire : No we cant allow this situation to continue

Webby Ch : I think it’s time...but first what went wrong during ZCCM ??

Gem Quest : Now you are talking Doc!

Vincent Kasanga : There’s something we dont see ourselves its beyond our reasoning this phenomenon above our shoulders and the greatest enemy live within ourselves we have to fight this enemy after we have won maybe its when we can talk about running our affairs failure to that we are wasting our time.

Juma Phiri : well noted

Broad daylight ........... &

Mulenga Chileshe : It’s high time we realised that we can...!

Christopher Chikoti : That’s very true, it’s high time we addressed this issue

Hlupo Ziba ; We brought in foreign investors to run our gold mine at a consideration of $2.5 million

Thulani Mwiya : Lets start with the gold mines and demonstrate coz it will have a direct impact on our reserves

Naleli Ashley Mwenda ; I don’t think we have the capital needed to run the mines. Already we are highly indebted at the moment
