Kazungula bridge ready

Botswana counterpar­t Thulangano Segokgo.

Speaking at a joint media briefing in the middle of the ultramoder­n bridge, Mr Mwale said the two Government­s were excited with the completion of the bridge.

He said the new bridge would help ease movement of goods and services not only between the two countries but the entire Southern African region.

Mr Mwale said the bridge would reduce the transit time for heavy duty vehicles between Zambia and Botswana from more than 3 days to only 2 hours.

“This is a great milestone in the promotion of trade and regional integratio­n,” he said.

And Mr Segokgo said the Kazungula bridge was one of the best modern engineerin­g venture not only in Southern Africa but the entire Africa.

“This is one of the best modern engineerin­g venture in the entire Africa, not only in the region,” said Mr Segokgo.

Meanwhile, Southern Province Minister, Edify Hamukale said it was impressive that the facility which was one of the biggest in Africa was in his province.

He thanked Government for implementi­ng the project in his area.

Meanwhile, Housing and Infrastruc­ture Developmen­t Permanent Secretary, Danny Mfune said significan­t progress had been made in coming up with the Kazungula Bridge Project Authority.

Eng. Mfune said the authority would oversee the day to day operations of the Kazungula Bridge one stop border facility.
