Ignore nonsensical suggestions, Mulemwa urges President Lungu
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu should ignore nonsensical utterances by disgruntled individuals because they are only meant to derail him and shift his attention from the developmental agenda, a consortium of opposition political parties has said.
The consortium was reacting to self-proclaimed governance activist, Brebner Changala’s sentiments that President Lungu should suspend his own immunity so that he could also be probed in the privatisation inquiry.
Consortium spokesperson, Spuki Mulemwa said it was absurd for anyone to demand that a sitting President suspends his own immunity.
Mr Mulemwa said such manevres were only aimed at derailing the President and shifting his attention from progressive agendas.
He wondered why President Lungu should be the one to suspend of his immunity when Zambians were demanding for answers from UPND president Hakainde Hichilema over the privatization saga. Mr Mulemwa said no cheap tactics would stop Zambians from demanding answers why a hotel worth US$26 million was sold for US$6 million in a dubious manner. He said the attention would be not shift from the demand for an explanation why Mr Hichilema did not declare interest during the sale of Intercontinental Hotel in Livingstone.
And Mr Mulemwa rubbished claims by expelled PF member, Kelvin Bwalya Fube that there was tension in the country.
He said the tension was only in Mr Fube’s imagination because Zambia was peaceful and orderly.
