PFL mourn with ZANACO

….as league returns with intriguing fixtures

- BY MICHAEL MIYOBA team Phiri.

THEPremier Futsal League says it is saddened by the death of Zanaco Futsal Club manager Emmanuel

PFL chairman Tarak Mehta said the death of Phiri who is also Young Zanaco Football team manager is a great loss to the growth of the sport.

Mehta said Phiri played a critical row to ensure that Young Zanaco Football Club became a part of the Futsal League where they are competing in the National Division one futsal league.

Meanwhile, Mehta said the PFL returns to action this weekend after last weekend’s fixtures were postponed due to the national day of prayer.

Mehta said players would wear black armbands when the league returns in honour of the Zanaco official.

And Zanaco FC general Manger Marlon Kananda said Phiri will greatly be missed as he was a valuable and respected member of the team and the effects of his passing would be felt by the players, fellow employees and management.

“Phiri was a wonderful employee who understood the meaning of the word 'team'. He was always more focused on the good of Zanaco FC than on his own benefit.

“He made many great contributions to Zanaco FC and helped it move forward in numerous ways,” said Kananda.

Phiri saved as team medic for Profund Warriors before it rebranded to NAPSA Stars then moved to Zanaco where he served as team medics before he was given the role to manage the club’s developmental side young Zanaco.
