AFTERwinning promotion from National Division One to the Super Division and impressing during the “Bix Six” pre-season tournament which they eventually won, Indeni FC’s quest to impress comes under scrutiny when they face Nkana in the Samuel “Zoom” Ndlovu Charity Shield final.

The match slated for Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe promises a lot of sparks

with the 13- time league winners Nkana being the favourites to carry the day.

Despite Nkana being the favourites with 18 Charity Shield titles to their name, Indeni coach Dabid Chilufya is not intimidated facing the Kitwe giants.

Chilufya said he has assembled a balanced team of local and foreign stars who will do their best to deliver a positive result when they face Nkana.

“What is inside Indeni is what gives me the confidence, the players that I have assembled are giving me confidence that we will do better. If you look at the name Indeni you will think we are nonentities but the players I have will do their best.

“I’m very happy with the players we have signed because I was the one doing everything and now we have a balanced team with players from Cameroon, Congo and local players,” said Chilufya, who won two Super League titles as a Nkana FC player.

And Indeni captain Joshua Titimi said they are ready for the much anticipated tie with the Super Division Champions as they had prepared adequately for them.

Meanwhile, Nkana coach Manfred Chabinga said the Charity Shield match against Indeni is a crucial fixture for his side who are always looking to deliver trophies for the fans.

Chabinga said expectations from Nkana fans are always high hence the need for the team to deliver the Charity Shield which highlights the beginning of a new soccer season.

Nkana FC captain Idris Mbombo said the Kitwe side are ready to face Indeni and will do their best to win it.

“When you are playing a final the wish is always to win so we are going there with the intention to win and as the coach has said expectations are always very high here at Nkana and everyone is ready,” said the lethal striker.
