REDEMPTION TIME AT NKANA?

...as rejuvenated Buffaloes, Nkwazi face off in Lusaka derby

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER the 5-0 midweek drubbing at the hands of rampaging Green Buffaloes, defending champions Nkana FC will be desperate for a positive response when they host Zanaco in tomorrow’s week four MTN/FAZ Super Division fixture at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

The Kitwe giants who started their title defence on a disappointing note, losing three games from the first four matches, will have to bounce back without their CEO Charles Chakatazya who left the club after his contract

expired.

The fixture against ZANACO presents under-fire Nkana coach Manfred Chabinga, who was attacked by a fan during the mid-week fixture in Lusaka, another tough test and the best response will be an outright win.

However it will be revenge time for Chris Kaunda’s bankers who were stunned 3-0 by Nkana the last time the two teams met in July.

Zanaco have started the season with four points from a possible nine, but have not played for two weeks since a 1-1 home draw with Nkwazi.

Meanwhile, Ndola giants Zesco United welcome Kabwe Warriors today in another intriguing fixture slated for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, the same venue which will host promoted sides Indeni and Prison Leopards who will clash in a lunchtime kickoff.

Zesco who are on four points following one win, one draw and one loss from the first three games will target a win which will propel them to seven points.

However for that to happen

Numba Mumamba’s boys who have only scored two goals in the first three games will have to be clinical upfront.

“There is a need to have composure in front of goal before you shoot.

We have invested a lot of time working on our finishing so that we are ready for the next game against Kabwe Warriors,” Numba said after the 1-0 win to Lumwana.

In other Super Division fixtures, rejuvenated Green Buffaloes will take on Nkwazi FC in another exciting Lusaka derby at Edwin Imboela Stadium while Lusaka Dynamos and Lumwana Radiants will face off at Sunset Stadium.

Red Arrows will seek to protect their unbeaten start to the season when they host Power Dynamos, while Green Eagles will hope to bounce back from a loss to Leopards when they entertain winless Kitwe United at Independence Stadium in Choma.
