Mwila counsels PF aspiring candidates
THOSE aspiring for various positions on the Patriotic Front (PF) ticket in the 2021 elections must prove their capacity to deliver development once elected, PF Secretary General Davies Mwila has said.
Mr Mwila said those aspiring to become Members of Parliament (MP) or councillors should bear in mind that positions were not for prestige, but for service to the people, hence the need for hard work and commitment
The PF Secretary Gebneeral was speaking at the weekend in Kamfinsa constituency in Kitwe when he officiated at a fundraising luncheon for Ndeke Catholic St Peter the Apostle Parish for various church projects. Some of the PF aspiring candidates for Kamfinsa constituency include Kelvin
Chipili, Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang'ombe and businessman Rogers Mwanjisi.
"These positions you are aspiring for, are not for fashion or prestige, but for service delivery to the people. Once elected as MP or councillor prove your critics wrong by delivering.
"So for those who are aspiring for various positions such as councilor, mayor and member of parliament, these positions are not easy you need to be strong, they call for hard work and service to the people, it’s not just wanting to aspire, it’s hard out there,” Mr Mwila said
Mr Mwila donated K100, 000 and helped the church raise K250, 000 from contributions from Copperbelt MPs and party officials.
He said the party believed that the church was the anchor for development, peace and good governance and therefore it had continued to promote and defend national values.
"The church has always played an important role in the governance system therefore Government will continue to embrace serious collaborations with the church to foster development and uplift the welfare of the people,'' he said.
Mr Mwila said the church should not only be considered to offer prayers but also help in various projects.
"Church matters have no boundaries and this explains why I have traveled all the way from Lusaka. As a party, we will continue to avail ourselves when called upon by the church, "he said.
And parish chairman Daniel Mwita said the church needed K900, 000 to go towards paving of the church surrounding, lifting the roof and procurement of benches among other requirements.
He said the projects had stalled due to lack of resources hence the need for well-wishers to come on board and identify any projects they could help the church in.
Meanwhile parish priest Ricky Masanta thanked Mr Mwila for the donation and helping the church raise a total of K350, 000 cash.
