ZANACO FACE INDENI HURDLE

…in chase for super division title

SENSATIONAL

Zanaco FC’s quest to cement their position as one of the favourites to bank the 2020/2021 Super Division title begins today when they take on Indeni in a week -18 tie at Indeni Sports Complex in Ndola.

The Bankers will fight to reclaim top spot on the 18-team Super Division table after they were relegated to second position by new leaders Zesco United who defeated Power Dynamos 2-1 in a midweek fixture on Wednesday to open a two-point lead at the summit of the table.

A win over Indeni who suffered a 2-0 loss when they visited Sunset Stadium in Lusaka on match day one, will propel Zanaco to 32 points.

However despite having been the most consistent side with three wins and two draws from the last five matches, Zanaco will have to put up a determined fight to emulate Lusaka Dynamos and Buildcon, the only two teams which have beaten Indeni at home.

And despite Indeni being a competitive side in the Super Division, the game against Zanaco presents a tough test for the “Oil Men” whose last win was on December 9 when they humbled Nkana 2-0.

Meanwhile, in the first match of the double header at Nkoloma Stadium, Nkwazi will aim to get a consecutive win when they host Lumwana Radiants after beating Forest Rangers 1-0 in their last league game.

Red Arrows face a rejuvenated Green Buffaloes side that has managed to pick up eight points from a possible 15 points from the last five games. The derby which is the second fixture of the double header at Nkoloma Stadium promises a lot of thrills as both teams will seek wins to move into the top 10 bracket on the table.

Both Arrows and Buffaloes are 12th and 13th with 20 and 18 points respectively.

At President Stadium in Kabwe, Prison Leopards will fight for their first win in five games with the last four games having ended in draws and one defeat to Zanaco.

Green Eagles are at Independence Stadium in Choma where they host Kabwe Warriors who will be seeking revenge after they lost the match day one fixture 1-0 at home in Kabwe.

The matches involving Zesco United and Forest Rangers who were scheduled to face NAPSA Stars and Nkana have been postponed because Nkana and Napsa are involved in CAF Confederations Cup competition.

Tomorrow’s league action will see Young Green Eagles playing Power Dynamos in an early kick off at Nkoloma Stadium, the same venue which will host the crunch tie involving Lusaka Dynamos and Buildcon.
