‘WHERE’VE THE MILLIONS SPRANG FROM?’
Mr Bwalya questioned how MMD president Dr Nevers Mumba was able to quickly pay off his US$70, 000 debt
MILLIONS of Kwacha suddenly being splashed by some politicians who are known to have been broke should trigger a quick investigation, a Patriotic Front official, Lemmy Bwalya has said.
Mr Bwalya questioned how MMD president Dr Nevers Mumba was able to quickly pay off his US$70, 000 debt and where Mr Chishimba Kambwili, leader of the National Democracy Congress got US$160, 000 which was stolen from his house.
Mr Bwalya said in an interview that it was very suspicious that politicians start having huge stacks of money a few months before the elections.
He called on investigative wings to probe where such amounts of money would have suddenly come from.
“With all the legal fees that some politicians have been paying, where can they get such amounts of money and just stashed in the house,” he said.
And former MMD national secretary, Major Richard Kachingwe said defunct MMD leader Dr Mumba was just using the party as a vehicle for fundraising.
Mj Kachingwe said the MMD died when Dr. Mumba clung to power after failing to hold a convention when the party was united.
"Is there MMD, that is not a political party anymore, it's just a political party between Nevers Mumba and the courts of Zambia," he said.
Maj Kachingwe said no original member would be bothered by the planned convention because their party was hijacked from them.
He maintained that the MMD was no longer a political party but a vehicle for fundraising, therefore no real member would pay attention to its planned convention
