The chief said the empowerment fund will enable the beneficiaries increase their hecterage which will result into increased yield. He said that recently, some four women-run corperatives were empowered with solar irrigation equipment which he said has helped increase their production capacity.
“As we speak, I can say the lives of the beneficiaries have improved because poverty at household level has been reduced. So, for this, I want to thank government,” he said.
The traditional leader urged other subjects to organise themselves so that they could also benefit from various Government empowerment programmes.
He further urged the beneficiaries to use the funds for its intended purposes.
He however called on Government to consider building skills training centres in the chiefdom so that they spur skills development among the youths.
“What is lacking in most of these youths in my chiefdom and other chiefdoms as well, are skills. So, it is my humble appeal to government to consider putting up some skills training centers,” he said.
