Surveyors hail asset policy launch

- By NATION REPORTER

THE Valuation Chapter of the Surveyors Institute of Zambia is happy that Government has launched the Public Asset Management Policy.

Chairperson for the Valuation Chapter, Martin Lengwe Sauti, said the Surveyors Institute was ready to work with Government to ensure that the policy was successfully implemented especially in management of land and buildings.

The Ministry of Finance in conjunction with the Ministry of Works and Supply came up with the policy.

Mr Sauti expressed optimism that the new policy will have a positive effect on the profession as well as the Surveyors industry.

“We understand that apart from developing strategies for managing public assets, the policy will also be responding to some of the challenges that affect the professionals in this sector by evaluating the legal and institutional framework that we operate in,” Mr Sauti said.

Mr Sauti added that the policy would ensure that public assets were properly managed and maintained thereby protecting infrastructure that has been developed at great cost.

“As a Chapter of the Institute that represents Valuation Surveyors, Property Managers and Property Development Appraisers in Zambia, we have a strong conviction that this will definitely have a positive effect on our profession.

“We are very delighted to see this policy launched by Government and we wish to pledge our support in its successful implementation,” Mr Sauti said.
