Yamoto pick Chansa as Jelusic’s replacement

-

Chansa takes over from Serbian trainer Vaselin Jelusic who left the club barely three days after giving Yamoto their first title since 1964 after they beat Rifle Men 5-4 on penalties to scoop the FAZ provincial League Cup.

Yamoto General Manager, Justin Palmer, said it was mutually agreed for Coach Jelusic to leave and attend to personal matters of an urgent nature.

“Coach Jelusic’s contribution to the progression of City during his tenure is commendable, he leaves us in a great position. Everyone at Yamoto wishes him all the best going forward.

“The club has brought in Chipolopolo AFCON champion, Isaac Chansa, as the new Head Coach of City of Lusaka,” Palmer said.

Meanwhile, City Chairman, Chomba Mumba, hailed Jelusic for leaving the club better than he found it and it is doing well in the

National Division One league where it is vying to win promotion to the Super League.

Mumba said Yamoto believes in Jelusic’s successor, Isaac Chansa whose reign as Yamoto Gaffer started yesterday when he led players in a training session ahead of Yamoto’s week 23 match against Zesco Shockers on Saturday.

“City of Lusaka is in a strong position to gain promotion with 12 league games remaining. “We believe that Coach

Chansa is the right person to build on the foundations laid in the league thus far. Welcome to the Yamoto family Coach Chansa,” Mumba said.

Chansa joins Yamoto from Forest Rangers were he served as assistant coach to Tenant Chilumba.

And Forest Rangers chairman, Charles Kapoma hailed Chansa who is also Chipolopolo assistant coach for his services during his stay at Forest, and wishes him all the best in his new job which will help him further his career.

Kapoma said Chansa’s dedication and positive influence to the players will always be appreciated. Chansa joined Forest Rangers as a player and played for the team until he retired last year.

He was promoted to the team's technical bench and was part of the team's achievements of qualifying for both ABSA Cup and CAF Champions League for the first time.
