Shiwang`andu installs street lights
Shiwang`andu District Council has installed street lights at the district’s business centre.
District Council Secretary Alex Zulu, who confirmed this development said the street lighting project is worth K250, 000.
Mr. Zulu said the installed street lights at the central business district have covered a total stretch of 480 meters.
He said the project has been funded from the accumulative equalisation fund.
“I m very happy with the quality of works done on the just completed labour-based street lighting project in Shiwang`andu,” said Mr. Zulu.
He has since appealed to the public to guard the newly installed street lights against vandalism saying any perpetrator of this vice will face the wrath of the law.
He said the local authority has a responsibility to guarantee quality in delivered projects.
Mr. Zulu has further vowed that the council will continue to produce quality works on labour-based projects in order to inspire contractors that are engaged to undertake various projects.
And speaking on behalf of Shiwang`andu residents, Agnes Mutale commended the local authority for the good initiative of putting up street lights at the district centre.
Ms. Mutale said the street lights will enhance security at the business centre.
Another resident Michael Mulenga said the people of Shiwang`andu are happy with the street lights installed in the district.
Mr. Mulenga said the area has experienced development from the time it was given a district status. - ZANIS
