EMBATTLED NDC FACTION FIGHT RAGES ON
EMBATTLED Anglican Priest and former National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairperson Father Richard Luonde has told the party national youth chairperson Medson Mugala to desist from attacking him in the media and referring to him as a poor person.
Father Luonde said he had never attacked Mr Mugala any where as party national youth chairperson and so he should also reciprocate by giving him respect instead of attacking him and referring to him as a poor person with no capacity to run the party
Father Luonde was reacting to a statement in the Daily Nation where Mr Mugala said mobilising a political party demanded financial, material and physical muscle among other things, hence those senior party officials who have been entirely depending on transport money from the party to attend meetings from the Copperbelt to Lusaka must weigh themselves before aspiring for top party jobs
Mr Mugala said, for people like Father Luonde, he should gauge or weigh himself whether he had the financial , material, discipline, morally, spiritually as well as physical muscle to run the NDC
In an audio obtained by the Daily Nation, Father Luonde wondered why Mr Mugala decided to attack him in the media when he had never attacked him
"I spoke about the NDC President Mwenya Musenge and I didn't talk about you, and so am surprised that you have decided to attack me and calling me a poor man. I expect you to respect me the way I respect you
"Any way, I just wanted to confirm if you are the one who gave the story to Daily Nation. Now, that I have confirmed that it is you, its fine. I thought you were misquoted by the author of the article,'' Father Luonde said
And in response, in the same audio, Mr Mugala stood his ground that he was the source of the story and people trying to jeopardise the party will not be entertained
Mr Mugala said he was surprised that Father Luonde could doubt his ability to issue such kind of statement when it was clear that it was him who had issued the statement
"No, Father I was not misquoted, it is me who issued that statement. Surely, you can't see or read that it is me who issued that statement,'' Mr Mugala said
Three days ago , Mr Mugala said some senior NDC officials who have refused to work with newly-appointed party President Mwenya Musenge were actually liabilities to the party who have nothing to offer despite craving for top party positions,'' NDC youths have said
Mr Mugala said mobilising a political party demanded financial, material and physical muscle among other things, hence those senior party officials who have been entirely depending on transport money from the party to attend meetings from the Copperbelt to Lusaka must weigh themselves before aspiring for top party jobs.
