Senior Chief Kanong’esha advises against partisan politics

-

Senior Chief Kanong’esha of the Lunda speaking people in Mwinilunga has called on counterparts throughout the country to desist from engaging in partisan politics.

Senior Chief Kanong’esha said it is high time traditional leaders made self- introspect and reverted back to their core mandate of supporting the government of the day for national development.

“We should not be involved in politics as traditional leaders, ours is to advise and unite people,” he said.

The Traditional leader made the call during a courtesy call on him by Mwinilunga district Commissioner Harrison Kamuna at his palace today.

Meanwhile the traditional leader has expressed happiness with the desire by the new dawn administration to run an inclusive government and pledged his support to government.

He has advised leaders against listening to divisive views but strictly adhere to government procedures when dealing with traditional leaders.

And Mr Kamuna said President Hakainde Hichilema is calling on citizens to put behind the past election differences and focus on rebuilding the nation.

Mr Kamuna said the President is resolved to restore national unity and economic stability through inclusive governance and fiscal discipline.

“Among other reasons, the President wants to unite people and develop the country,” Mr Kamuna said.

He added that government is keen to see participation of locals in development as evidenced by its decision to increase the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and actualisation of decentralisation. - ZANIS
