…Handle internal wrangles behind closed doors, SACCORD urges PF
HANDLEinternal wrangles behind closed doors and ensure provision of a platform for dialogue among aggrieved party members, Southern African Centre for Constructive Resolution and Disputes (SACCORD) has urged the Patriotic Front (PF).
SACCORD Executive Director, Bornface Cheembe said the former ruling party should handle their internal affairs carefully as they endeavor to rebrand with utmost sensitivity and recognition for the party members.
Mr. Cheembe said in an interview that that if the PF don’t handle their internal affair well, the party could become polarized and ultimately disintegrate to an extent where those who would be elected party leaders might not have many followers to lead.
He said it was therefore important that the PF
leadership became sober, constructive and inclusive in according all voices an opportunity to be heard and provide a clear decision making process that allows for transparency and accountability in making appointments.
“So it is important that they handle their issues behind closed doors and that they provide platform for dialogue in disagreements among their members because often times conflicts may arise when there are inadequate spaces for dialogue and disagreements,” he said.
Mr. Cheembe said it was incumbent upon the opposition PF to ensure that their rebranding process was successful because no one would do it for them and if they fail the consequences could be disastrous for party.
He added that it was up to the PF to decide the course of action that they wanted to take because their survival was dependent on how they handled their internal affairs.
