The abduction of Pamela the mobile money agent traumatising

- Dear Editor,

THE abduction of Pamela Chisumpa aged 22 the mobile money agent last week on Wednesday is traumatising and it has sent fear in the mobile money agents.

Pamela operated her mobile money business near Shoprite on Cairo Road before being abducted by two men masquer ading as clients.

The two criminally minded men approached her at the mobile money booth pretending to transact. The duo told her that they wanted to do a transaction involving huge sums of money. They requested her to escort them and this is how they left and crossed Cairo Road.

Her abduction came to light last week when the video went viral depicting her being physically abused by the abductors.

In the video it appears that the abductors were using an iron object to beat her. She bled from the mouth and she sustained a deep cut on the head as a consequence of severe beating.

However, the abductors called the parents to Pamela de manding a ransom of K15, 000 failure to which she would be murdered. Pamela’s parents sent K10, 000 and the abductors later demanded for the K5, 000 balance.

The mobile phone number used has since been deactivated by Pamela’s assailants. The police command has assured the nation that it will do everything within its mandates to bring the abductors to book. ZICTA has also come on board to work with the police pursuing the matter involving the abduction of Miss Chisumpa.

All said and done, the abduction of Pamela is traumatising and the police are equally shocked about the said crime which is the first of its kind in Zambia.

This matter must be pursued to its conclusive end so that the culprits face the full wrath of the law.
