TAMBATAMBA CHALLENGES HUMAN RESOURCE PRACTITIONERS
THE Ministry of Labour and Social Security has chal- lenged the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Man- agement (ZIHRM) to create the enhancement of pro- fessionalism now that they have an Act of Parliament.
Minister, Brenda Tambat- amba says, it has been the cry of the Institute to have its bill reviewed and repealed which the New Dawn Gov- ernment has done.
Ms Tambatamba said that government expects the in- stitute to ensure the law is adhered to and there is san- ity at work places where hu- man resource practitioners are found.
She said the ZIHRM plays a critical role in ensuring that there is harmony at place work both in the pub- lic and private sector.
The minister said that this is in order to avoid industrial stoppages at work places the country has been experienc- ing in the past.
Ms Tambatamba was speaking during the official opening of the 10th regional conference of the ZHIRM in Livingstone yesterday.
She said that the new ZIHRM Act regulates all practitioners who are mem- bers of the institute.
Ms Tambatamba said, the law now gives power to the institute to prosecute those who are practicing without being registered.
She advised the institute to be advising government on human resource matters in the country.
And ZIHRM president Moffat Nyirenda has thanked the new administration for creating a conducive envi- ronment in the country.
Mr Nyirwnda said that with the new law in place, the institute intends to en- force it to ensure that all organisations employing human resource practition- ers comply with the law by recruiting persons who are members of the institute and have obtained practic- ing certificates.
He said that there is a lot of work to be done with the implementation of the law adding that it requires both the government and the in- stitute to work together.
