DEPLORABLE STATE OF ROADS WILL VINDICATE PF ROAD REHABILITATION PROGRAMMES - NGÁMBI
THOSEwho criti cised the Patriotic Front (PF) when it embarked on road rehabilitation projects should be appreciating the importance of road infra structure now that most of the roads on the Copperbelt and various parts of the country are in a deplorable state, the PF has said
PF chairman for industry Frank Ng’ambi said the PF realised that road infrastruc ture was key to development and so it embarked on a well-defined programme for road rehabilitation, but some Zambians mocked the former ruling party.
In an interview in Kitwe yesterday, Dr Ng’ambi said those who mocked the party were now appreciating the importance of road infrastruc ture as most of the roads were in a deplorable state.
Dr Ng’ambi said apart from the deplorable state of roads, hunger and poverty has also worsened in various commu nities under the new dawn ad ministration which now looks stuck on which formula to use to work on the roads and alle viate poverty.
“Unlike the UPND gov ernment which sings about corruption and plunder, the PF had set the stage for eco nomic recovery and nation al development through a well-defined road rehabilita tion programme, but some Zambians were making fun of us.
“I am sure now after they have seen the bad state of roads, they are able to appreci ate why PF embarked on road rehabilitation. Under the new dawn administration, they have seen the deplorable state of roads, the worsening pov erty and hunger,’’ Dr Ng’ambi said
He said the UPND has no plan of rehabilitating roads and alleviating poverty hence it has continued with propa ganda and lies to divert the attention of people from its failures. He said, instead of articulating issues of poverty alleviation, the UPND was talking about cooperatives and political persecution in the name of fighting corrup tion and economic plunder.
“This government does not want to be criticised hence whoever criticises it, he or she is taken to Lukulu, Kaoma or anywhere else. This govern ment does not want to be crit icised because it is stuck and does not know which way to go in terms of alleviating pov erty and hunger,’’ Dr Ng’ambi said.
