- By ROGERS KALERO

UNRULYsuspected UPND cadres in Kit we’s Luangwa town ship yesterday manhandled two residents who had taken a media crew to a piece of land which had been invaded by suspected UPND cadres who were boasting that it was their time to enjoy like their Pa triotic Front (PF) colleagues used to enjoyed.

The unruly UPND cadres led by Brian Chilufya man handled Morgan Mumba and another one identified only as Chilambe and labelled them as crooks who should not be trusted by any one.

The unruly cadres got in censed after seeing that Mr

Chilambe and Mr Mumba were in the company of some media personnel whom they were showing a piece of land invaded by cadres which was earmarked for the construc tion of a market.

Chilufya mobilised other UPND cadres and manhan dled Chilambe whilst insulting him and warned that he will be beaten up if he continues to bring the media to show the invaded piece of land.

“What have you come to do here? You are very foolish, we will beat you up if you continue coming here with the media. This is our piece of land which we have shared as members of the community. We are not cadres, we are members of the community who have decided to share this piece of land so that we can also benefit,” Chi lufya said.

And another cadre identified as Mervis Chileshe said Luang wa ward councillor Mary Zim ba supportted the cadres, but had decided to maintain a low profile so that she was not seen to be influencing the people.

When asked whether they were allocated by the Kitwe City Council or by who, Ms Chileshe said they allocated themselves with the blessings of the councillor.

But, Ms Zimba denied sup porting the illegal allocation of land in the area, saying her enemies were the ones behind the confusion to dent her image.

Ms Zimba said she will pur sue the matter to its logical conclusion.
