DEC counsels 148 pupils for drug abuse
THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has disclosed that it has counselled 148 pupils suffering from drug abuse related cases in the first quarter of 2022.
DEC public relations officer Mathias Kamanga said from January to March 2022, they attended to 264 drug abuse related cases and 148 cases involved school going children.
In an interview with Millennium Radio, Mr Kamanga said the DEC has seen an increase in the number of pupils seeking counsleling on drug abuse related cases in the first quarter of the year.
He said the DEC has been working with different schools after noticing that they have had a lot of drug abuse cases among pupils.
Mr Kamanga said the increase in the number of pupils seeking counselling is an indication that the sensitisation programmes on curbing drug abuse is yielding results.
