160 Kanchibiya CDF bursary applicants selected

OVER 160 applicants who applied for skills developmen­t under the Constituen­cy Developmen­t Fund (CDF) bursaries in Kanchibiya have been selected.

Kanchibiya Town Council Planning Officer (DPO) Charles Simukonda disclosed the developmen­t during a stakeholde­rs’ meeting in yesterday. Mr. Simukonda said the CDF committee oncluded the selection process of skills developmen­t bursaries scheme for all the 10 wards in the district.

He pointed out that the 163 selected applicants for skills developmen­t will be sponsored under the first quarter funding of CDF 2022.

He has expressed happiness that the number of applicants who applied for skills developmen­t in the district is encouragin­g. He added that all the skilled developmen­t bursaries funds allocated under the first quarter CDF 2022 will be exhausted to sponsor the 163 students.

“We had a lot of people that applied for skills developmen­t Bursaries but others where not selected because they did not meet the recommende­d qualificat­ions,” said Mr. Simukonda.

And speaking at the same meeting, Kanchibiya District Commission­er Chrispin Chilekwa said the selected applicants are expected to report in the various learning institutio­ns by August this year .

Mumbubu Ward Developmen­t Committee Chairperso­n Happy Chileshe has thanked the government for introducin­g the skill bursaries funds, adding that this will greatly help a lot of people coming from financiall­y vulnerable families. – ZANIS.
