Collective marketing lacking -CTPD
THE prospects of collective marketing amongst the country’s small-scale farmers are very low at the moment, The Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) has noted.
CTPD Senior Researcher for Trade and Development Dr Simon Manda said this is despite availability of ways to strengthen the role and importance of collective marketing amongst sector players.
Dr Manda said while the concept of collective marketing has been in practice to some extent for some time, it remains low.
He said state actors were key in creating an enabling environment for marketing players including smallscale farmers and private buyers.
He said there are also ways to strengthen the role and importance of collective marketing which point to infrastructure and shaping national policy that promote this.
