Chieftainess Mwenda hails HH over mineral resources stance

CHIEFTAINESS Mwenda of the Basanje Tonga of Chikakanka has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for his stance that the mineral resources dotted in chiefdoms should benefit the local people.

And Chieftainess Mwenda also hailed the President for ensuring that the insuance of mining licences to potential investors is done transparently.

She said the President should be supported because previously, the local people were not benefitting from their own minerals extracted in their chiefdoms by investors.

Chieftaness Mwenda said the local people and traditional leaders are the custodians of land and should be able to benefit from their own resources.

She also appealed to the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development to explore mineral resources dotted across Chikakanka.

Chieftainess Mwenda said the dstrict is rich in minerals such as gold, copper, nickel and indeed white stones spread across Mabwetuba.
