NOMINATIONS FOR PF PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS GOING WELL

- Dear editor,

THE long awaited filing of nominations for the Patriotic Front (PF) presidential hopefuls is currently underway. This follows the filing of the nominations which started last Thursday.

Each presidential candidate is required to pay the non refundable nomination fee of K200,000.00. The candidate who is going to emerge victorious at the general conference slated for March next year will succeed party president Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

The issue of the former ruling party holding the general conference to elect the successor of former president Lungu was characterised by postponement. This is due to the fact that the date for holding the general conference was postponed more than once.

The Patriotic Front has demonstrated democracy in that the successor of former president Lungu will be elected at the forthcoming general conference.

The members who are interested to contest the PF presidency are free to do so. This is what democracy entails.

The candidates who have filed their nominations are Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Greyson Monde, Miles Bwalya Sampa, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Chishimba Kambwili, Mutotwe Kafwaya, Emmanuel Mwamba and Brian Mundubile.

There is only one winner in any given election. Having said this, the losing candidates in the forthcoming PF general conference should accept defeat and embrace the winner in readiness for the 2026 general election.

Resigning from the party following electoral defeat at the anticipated PF general conference is a sign of political immaturity. This should not be the case.

The filing of nominations for the PF presidency ahead of general conference is going well so far.

It is good that all the aspiring candidates are emphasising on rebranding party and prepare for the 2026 general election.
