Encourage entrepreneurship by negotiating with banks on lending rates, govt urged
THE government needs to help encourage Entrepreneurship by negotiating with banks and money lending institutions to reduce their lending rates especially for those who want to start small businesses, Practical Entrepreneurship for Africa (PEA) Program Founder, Collins Kachaka, has said.
Dr Kachaka said during the launch of the PEA Program in Lusaka that this would help people who want to start up businesses to be able to easily access funds to help with their businesses.
And Dr Kachaka said government through the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise and other institutions also needed to make finances under the various empowerment programs easily accessible to citizens who wanted to be empowered.
Dr Kachaka said many youths in the country were unable to access funding due to ignorance as not much information had been given out on the procedure needed to be followed in order for people to access empowerment.
And Dr Kachaka said the APE program was launched in order to compliment government’s efforts of encouraging people especially the youths to embrace Entrepreneurship.
“There is need for more youths to eliminate the job dependency syndrome and take Entrepreneurship if the country is to develop economically. We have a lot of young people, graduates sitting at home waiting for employment when they can easily become self-employed and help develop our country,” said Dr Kachaka.
He said the program is meant to educate and motivate people to embark on Entrepreneurship as a way to contribute to economic development.
