Red Arrows told to sharpen up for Eagles

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

RED Arrows Football Club President Colonel Moses Kambimbi has tipped the Chisi Mbewe-drilled Airmen to sharpen up and beat Green Eagles in a week-16 FAZ Super League’s defence derby scheduled for this Saturday at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The Airmen have struggled with only one win in the last six games where they have recorded four draws and one defeat.

Their poor form in the last six games saw the Airmen give up the top spot on the Super League table to occupier second positions with 27 points, two points below log leaders Power Dynamos whom they will face off in the last fixture of the first round slated for December 10th in Kitwe.

Kambimbi noted the need for the Airmen to put their minds together and focus on finishing strong as the first round comes to a close with two games remaining.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s media team after watching the team's training session at Nkoloma, Kambimbi said beating Green Eagles should not be a problem for Red Arrows who managed to outshine the Choma outfit in the last two league fixtures played at Nkoloma Stadium.

"I want to encourage the boys to put in their best and beat Green Eagles FC this Saturday. We have beaten then before so even this time, it should not be a problem," Kambimbi said.

"If you check our record, we have so far done well on security teams. We beat Buffaloes and Nkwazi, and drew with Prisons. All we need now is to beat Green Eagles to complete our run-over on defence and security teams.

"Additionally, the boys need to stop blowing hot and cold by putting their energies and minds together so that we finish strong as the first round comes to a close," Kambimbi said.

Meanwhile, Kambimbi expressed happiness that some of the injured players return to full training after completing their treatment.

Red Arrows will fight for maximum points against Green Eagles and Power Dynamos in the last two fixtures of the first round to qualify for the ABSA Cup which features the top six teams from the Super League and the top two teams from the National Division One league.
