ZRA SIGNING PACTS WITH BUSINESSES HAVING CASHFLOW CRISIS

THE Zambia Revenue Authority ( ZRA) has urged businesses encounteri­ng cash flow challenges to enter into Time to Pay Agreements ( TPAs) that will allow them to pay outstandin­g taxes in Installmen­ts.

ZRA acting Commission­er Business Facilitati­on, Richard Kapasa, said the authority was entering into TPAs with business encounteri­ng cash flow challenges.

Mr Kapasa was speaking in Kitwe during a USAID Revenue for Growth Project Tax Awareness and Business Support Conference Empowering MSME for Tax Compliance and Growth.

"We are aware that some of you have tax liabilitie­s and are not able to obtain tax clearance certificat­es.

Let me take this opportunit­y to appeal to those encounteri­ng cash flow challenges to immediatel­y contact its tax offices so that it can facilitate for them to enter into the ' Time to pay Agreements’ that will allow them to pay outstandin­g taxes in Instalment­s

"It is my hope that throughout this event, you will have the privilege of learning from experts in tax administra­tion who will guide you through various aspects of tax regulation­s, provide practical insights on commonly misunderst­ood tax concepts as well as address any queries that you may have,'' Mr Kapasa said.

Mr Kapasa said maintainin­g a satisfied and knowledgea­ble tax payer population was key to improving voluntary compliance and collecting more revenue.

He explained that it was for this reason that ZRA had set up a department to implement the operating model." This department will aim to ensure that we continuous­ly improve our service delivery and regularly engage with our tax payers to bridge the informatio­n gap.

“In supporting business to comply with tax obligation­s, the ZRA has this year commenced the process to commercial­ise the training facilities in Lusaka and Copperbelt where it will be offering tax courses to the general public,'' Mr Kapasa said.

He also talked about strengthen­ing collaborat­ion with stakeholde­rs

such as the Zambia Associatio­n of Manufactur­ers ( ZAM), Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( ZACCI), Zambia Chamber for Small and Medium Business Associatio­ns ( ZCSMBA).
