Save the Children doing good job
EDITOR — May I thank Save the Children, a nongovernmental organisation for doing a sterling job in the Hwange District.
The organisation is helping about 20 primary schools by building infrastructure such as ablution blocks and donating learning materials.
I was impressed by the organisation’s concern and passion for children. An array of workshops have been held with teachers of the schools under their support, staff developing teachers on teaching pedagogic to ensure that all learners benefit in the teaching and learning process.
I was amused when they integrated teachers and communities on ways in identifying hazards in their milieu and finding possible ways of redressing them before disaster unfolds.
Recently the organisation held workshops on children’s rights including ways of dealing with children living with disabilities.
Toilet facilities to cater for the disabled persons in schools have been erected to promote easy navigation of those using wheelchair.
As a parent I have observed that teachers are working closely and tirelessly with the donor in this part of the country. Meanwhile, I implore the donor to cascade its generosity to more schools in the district including secondary schools. Thankful, Victoria Falls.
