Zim, Namibia good relationship to grow

-

EDITOR – I welcome to Zimbabwe His Excellency Tate Hage Geingob from Namibia dubbed the Land of the Brave! The Zimbabwe-Namibia solidarity should be cemented to last much longer.

Zimbabwe should seriously explore and incorporate its human resources capacity when signing these MoUs deals, especially in view of exporting its education sector.

I have lived in the Namibian economy and I have noticed that teachers, nurses and those in the medical sector are in great demand, an area which the Zimbabwe government must fully exploit to benefit the country.

A partnership with Namibia is the right path to building an integrated region. For long Sadc has preached the gospel of regional integration but the pace at which it is taking place leaves a lot to be desired.

To supplement the skills exchange there needs to be an opening up of borders and an easing of travel between the two countries.

The framework for these things to take place exists comradeship but there needs to be political will for it to be achieved. With regards to regional integration I think Namibia and Zimbabwe would be great partners in leading the cause for the region as a whole.

If this works between the two countries, then they can be used as an example for the rest of the region. Where Namibia can benefit from the human capital, Zimbabwe can benefit in mining.

Namibia has for long mined diamonds and co-owns with De Beers, the diamond mining company Namdeb. Diamonds have contributed greatly towards their economy and Zimbabwe can learn something from them with regards to this.

Zimbabwe and Namibia also have shared history as countries which fought a war for independence and many of our leaders were together in training in Tanzania, Zambia and other places.

Since there is a lot that we share in common and a lot that we can benefit from each other I think that the country should invest in this relationship and work towards building a strong base for better regional integration. TC, Harare
